Madison Central Lions Club
Guidelines for Community Services Committee
These guidelines are not iron-clad, but intended to provide a logical approach to committee work
Committee votes should be decided by a simple majority (of members present) vote.
A committee quorum should be five (5) (?) members.
Rejections of "form letter" requests do not require notice to submitters.
Specific requests (non form letters) should be acknowledged with the committee's decision.
Refusal notices should be carefully worded with reasonable explanations.
Requests should be screened to see if they are community related or should be handled by Sight or other Club committees.
Basic human needs should have a high priority.
Consider projects for individuals with special needs but not for vacations or other recreational activities.
Services may be provided for groups or individuals.
Services should be limited to the city of Madison, preferably in the isthmus or downtown area.
In general, services should not be provided for groups conducting their own fund drive.
Requests with a possibility of providing the Lions Club with "good will" publicity should receive consideration.
Fund one larger project each fiscal year which benefits many people. This type of project may be done in conjunction with another organization.
Establish a long term relationship with a specific cause that the Lions Club can be associated with and receive public recognition.
Projects need not always involve a monetary contribution. Volunteering only is acceptable.
Services totalling over $200 must be approved by the Madison Central Board of Directors.
(Still under Board discussion) Requests from Madison Central members for "pledge funds" should be limited to matching the first $100 of their other pledges.
