Membership Classifications

Adopted by the Board of Directors on February 23, 1965

ACTIVE: An active member is one who partakes of the meals and enjoys all of the activities and privileges of the Club. He/she shall pay full dues, including cost of meals and assessments as prescribed by the Board of Directors

CLERICAL: A clerical member is one who is an ordained minister of any faith. He/she partakes of the meals and enjoys all of the activities and privileges of the Club. He/she shall pay such dues, cost of meals and assessments as prescribed by the Board of Directors.

ASSOCIATE: An associate member is one who is unable to attend meetings for an indefinite period of time, but wishes to remain a member of the Club, and to become an active member again as soon as possible. He/she shall pay such dues, cost of meals and assessments and prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Associate members status may be granted by the Board of Directors, upon consideration of written application, and such status will be reviewed on an annual basis. Associate status may be extended by the Board of Directors upon receiving a written request from the associate member.

VETERAN: A Veteran member is one who has been an active member of any Lions Club for at least 20 years, but has retired (or who cannot attend for good cause) and wishes to attend meetings occasionally. He/she shall pay such dues, cost of meals and assessments as prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Veteran member status may be granted by the Board of Directors, upon consideration of written application, and once granted shall be considered permanent unless the member requests and is granted another membership classification.

PIONEER: A Pioneer member is one who has been an active member of this Club for at least 25 years, and has performed meritorious service for the Club. He/she partakes of meals and enjoys all of the activities and privileges of the Club. He/she shall pay no dues or assessments, but pays for meals eaten.

HONORARY: An Honorary member is one who is a resident of this community, and has performed outstanding service for it or for the Lions Club, and upon whom the Club may desire to confer this special distinction. He/she shall pay no dues or assessments, but may be asked to pay for meals eaten. Election of members to this classification shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Lions Clubs.
