A message from the W Club:

Hello Everyone -
If you are a group that works both Camp Randall and the Kohl Center, the supply of hats that you received at the game last week will be for the season, not just football.

Also remember to have all of your volunteers wear a white shirt, as it gets colder you may wear a sweatshirt or jacket, but they do not need to be white.

Thanks
See you in the morning

Sharon

I know, we've only just started the Football season, but the Basketball schedule has just been published. See the Game Schedule to start planning your winter volunteering!

And this from Katarina Jungbluth: "I had a great time on Sat! Just a little note: the WISCARD works if it is setup for 'Campus Cash.' It did not work for the kids who had it setup for housing and books only. If it didn't work I usually asked them if they had it set up for housing/books only, and they'd get this look like 'Duh, I knew that - just forgot.' "

Craig Butler, Stand Manager for the opening game, has assembled a list of items below that will help the next crew. We will make sure to get this list to the next group.

• Our stand in located on ground level in section "N"
• You can run the stand with 13, but we can sell more product with 16 (and it's a lot easier on everyone)
• You should have 6 people at the counter selling
• It's helpful to have 2-3 "runners" to bring items to the cashier
• If it's a hot day (section N is in the sun) you can never have too much bottled water on ice. Fill the tubs provided with ice and water, then put the bottles of water in. They get colder faster and they float so you can pick them up easier. There is a divider for the tub. Use it to separate the cold bottles from the warm ones you just put in. As one side empties, restock the other side with 3 cases. Place the box the water was packaged in on top of the warm side so everyone knows to go to the other side. Repeat the process.
• You can never have too much bottled product cold/on ice. You can always put it back on the shelf at the end.
• Save the boxes you take product out of as you will need them to put the left over product back in at the end.
• If it's hot: there is another tub for PowerAde and lemonade. Fill it with water and ice. Blue seems to bed the most popular. Restock this from the backside forward. Take bottles from the front and it works kind of like an assembly line.
• DO NOT wash the soda cups that are left over when you close. The health department insists we throw them away since we cannot sanitize them. These will be counted as "spoilage".
• You cannot have too many quarters. You should have about 20 rolls.
• 11:00 game sell the most hot dogs and brats.
• You do need to arrive at the stand about 3 hours before game time to get everything prepped.
• The stand stays moderately busy the whole game. Big rush before the game, between the first and second quarter, big rush at halftime, and a light but steady flow during the third quarter.
• There is a debit card machine in our stand that only works for the "Wiscon" debit card students carry. The machine very simple to operate. But it will only take the Wiscon card - no other credit card. Some of the Wiscon cards will not work if they are set up for food only - which I assume is for campus cafeterias only. Some cards will be rejected as they have no money on them. Almost all the kids whose card was rejected produced cash for the sale.
• Just after the 1st quarter, someone from the UW will come by and pick up some of your money - usually all the 20's. You need to be ready for them with the money counted. They took about $2300 from us. You get a receipt that you must keep and add into your totals.

Our first fundraising opportunity of the new Lions year is just around the corner… UW Football. There are seven home games this year. We have a new stand, N; which is in the newly renovated section of the stadium. This is a fun way to get to know other Lions and raise some money at the same time. Now is the time to volunteer. Invite your friends, family or prospective members to help out. Sign-up online!
Thanks in advance for your support!
